Go Ye Missions Children’s Home

There are many abandoned children in India forced to beg on the streets. Go Ye Missions Children's Home - located in Nagercoil, India - rescues these children, giving them food, shelter, and an education. Some of the children are also placed in the homes of their pastors. Run by missionary P.Kulandaivelu (Velu), Go Ye Missions also goes out to the villages to preach the gospel and start churches. They train the pastors and support them financially as well as every other way. They have more than 50 churches like this.

Pastor Rick first met Velu at a Pastor’s conference in 1985, and describes their relationship:

Velu had come to the United States with no money, but felt the Lord had told him to go to the U.S. to meet someone. He came over to my table, offered me candy, and started telling me about the ministry he and his brother, Elongovan, had begun in South India. I told him I felt God had called me to be a missionary to India as a young boy, but He had led me to start a church instead. I invited him home with me, and he spent several months with our family. We fell in love with him, as well as our young church, and we have been supporting him and his ministry ever since.

Nancy and I made our first trip over to India to see the ministry in 1987. Since then I (Pastor Rick) have traveled there about every 3 years. In 2012, most of our CMT (Church Management Team) went there to experience the ministry first hand, and to become acquainted with the next generation of leadership of Go Ye Mission, Velu’s nephew, Vijay Aaron Elongovan, whose father, Velu’s brother, passed away in November, 2009.

In 2010 I came back from my trip to India with a heavy heart; on the plane I felt God spoke to me and told me that he wanted Blue Mountain Community Church to accept the financial responsibility for the orphanage, in addition to the monthly support we have always given Velu to support his family personally. This amount was $2300/ month. For the past 5 years, BMCC has not failed to give over and above all other giving, this amount to support the orphanage. Every year, the children of our church, during Vacation Bible School, also raise and give them about the same amount for special things like computers, bicycles, desks, etc. Over the past 30 years, I have seen orphans grow up and become pastors, teachers and nurses that were rescued from the streets of India.

If you would like to join us in supporting this genuine need, we would greatly appreciate it.
